JUNIOR STUDENT SECTION

Rules and Regulations

  1. Eligibility:
    1. Singapore Citizens or permanent residents
    2. Non-Singapore citizens or non-permanent residents who are residing in Singapore. Winners will receive Special Awards*.
    3. All participants must be below 13 years old on the closing date.

  2. Participants may sign up individually or as a team of not more than 3 members. All the members in the team must be below 13 years old on the closing date.

  3. The main criteria for judging are originality, creativity and practicality of the invention.

  4. All entries must be submitted online. All entries must be true and fully completed. False or incomplete entries will be disqualified or rejected.

  5. Participants are allowed to submit more than one invention. However, each invention must be submitted online separately.

  6. Participants are NOT allowed to submit the same entry more than once. They are also NOT allowed to submit the same entry to more than one section. Duplicated entries will be disqualified.

  7. The submitted entries should neither have won awards in any open competitions nor been submitted concurrently to other similar competitions.

  8. Entries submitted must be participants' own invention; any form of plagiarism will be rejected.

  9. All applications must be submitted by 31 December 2007.

  10. Only participants whose projects are shortlisted will be invited for interview.

  11. Participants shall bear all costs incurred in submitting entries and invention prototypes. The participants should get their invention prototypes ready upon submitting their entries online. However, they are only required to bring in their prototypes and present to the judging panel when they turn up for interview or as and when requested by the judging panel.

  12. The organiser will not be responsible for any loss of patent rights.

  13. The judging panel's decision will be final and no correspondence will be entertained. No award will be given if the entries do not reach the acceptable standard.

  14. Winners are requested to hand in their invention prototypes for an exhibition in conjunction with the Award Presentation Ceremony. The organiser will notify winners concerning the venue and duration of the exhibition.

  15. While every care will be exercised in the handling of the invention prototypes, the organiser will not be held responsible for any loss or damage.

  16. Participants are to retrieve their invention prototypes within 1 month after the award presentation and exhibition from the designated place or within 15 days upon receiving of the written notice from the organiser, whichever is earlier. Otherwise the organiser reserves the right to dispose the invention prototypes.

  17. The rules and regulations are subject to change without prior notice.
